The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to locate a woman who disappeared over the weekend. Tracy Hensley Wingler, 48, was reported missing after she left her home on High Meadows Drive in Shallotte around 4 p.m. Sunday for a trip to Lowe's Home Improvement and never returned.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, Wingler left her home for Lowe's Home Improvement in Shallotte at approximately 4 p.m. and never returned. She was in a white 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck that has a spotlight on the driver's side.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, Antwan Damitri King, 39, and Christopher Bryant, 42, were taken into custody on Friday, Nov. 16 after detectives with the sheriff's office's Vice and Narcotics unit conducted a raid of their Tolson Circle home. Seventeen guns, as well as 6.3 grams of crack cocaine, 13.7 grams of marijuana, and approximately $450 in cash were seized during the search.

Members of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #503 of Calabash hosted the 12th Semiannual Book Bag Buddy bowling fundraiser event at Brunswick Bowling Center in Shallotte. A pair of bowling legends met in the finals of the PBA50 Storm Invitational that took place in Shallotte last weekend. Bowling hall of famers Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Norm Duke met in the championship showdown with Williams Jr. emerging victorious with a 259-237 win in the final match.

With a tropical storm warning, high surf advisory and flash flood warning in effect for the area, Brunswick County government offices will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11, due to Hurricane Michael, according to an announcement Wednesday from county spokeswoman Amanda Hutcheson. Brunswick County has issued a voluntary evacuation for those in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Police in a coastal North Carolina town say a repairman won't face charges after he fatally shot a pet monkey that escaped and attacked a woman. A Shallotte police detective told The Charlotte Observer Friday evening that the snow monkey escaped a backyard cage and “went bananas,” biting the woman and scratching her arms and legs.
