Grand Strand hospitals are nearing capacity regularly this summer as an influx of visitors is resulting in more hospital patients AND AT least one hospital is saying the volume of patients is higher than usual.
Grand Strand Regional Medical Center had to divert non-critical patients to other hospitals for a few hours last week for the first time in more than 10 years, said Joan Carroza, a spokeswoman for the hospital. The hospital’s emergency room is seeing up to 200 patients a day AND the while the number of patients fluctuates the beds have been close to capacity, she said. “This summer we are seeing high volume & … we are seeing a lot more sicker people,” Carroza said. “Right now I think all we can attribute it to is that there are a lot more people in town.”SOURCE: TheSunNews.com
