A Brunswick County man will be sentenced in November after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and felony child abuse in the death of his four-month-old son. The Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office announced to local media outlets Monday that 20-year-old Randy Richardson of Shallotte confessed to shaking Colton Richardson on May 28 of last year.

This morning at about 8:45, my girlfriend Brittny Roller dropped off a ceramic mask at the Cameron Art Museum’s “State of the Art/Art of the State,” an event in which artists from all over North Carolina have 24 hours, from noon yesterday to noon today, to bring one work of art to the CAM to hang in an exhibition through Feb. 12, and to meet one of four curators visiting from renown museums across the country. Shallotte Police are investigating a robbery at the First Community Bank located at the intersection of Main Street and Whiteville Road. Chief Gause with the Shallotte Police Department said they weren’t sure if the suspect had a weapon or not, or how much money the suspect actually got away with.

Authorities in Brunswick County have charged a 17-year-old with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in connection with a wreck that killed one and left seven injured. Area media outlets say the teenager also was cited for violating North Carolina’s graduated driver’s license statutes by driving after 9 p.m. and exceeding the passenger limit for his vehicle.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says a 17-year-old was killed and seven others were injured after the pickup truck they were riding in hit a ditch on a Brunswick County road. Local media outlets report 17-year-old Tyrus Johnston of Shallotte died of injuries he suffered in the accident on Holden Beach Road in Supply.
